How to Change Country on a Fire TV Stick

If you want to fake your location on an Amazon Fire TV stick (aka Firestick), you'll need to use a VPN. For more information about using a VPN on the Firestick, see our Firestick Customer Service website.

The following instructions are only useful if you moved to another country and would like to register your Firestick officially at your new location. Note that Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick only work completely in the following countries:
  • United States
  • United Kingdom
  • Germany
  • Austria
  • Japan
  • India (2nd Gen Fire TV Stick only)
If you have an Amazon Prime account, you can (only) use your Firestick to stream exclusive prime content from multiple countries. However, most other apps and content do not work due to geographic licensing resections. However, using a VPN can be helpful here.

How to change country on fire TV stick

If you want to re-register your Fire Stick in another supported countryside, you first need to register your new address with Amazon.
  • Log in to your account on the Amazon website and go to Manage Content and Devices -> Settings -> Country / Region Settings.
  • Click the Settings tab -> Country / Region Settings -> Change.
  • You can then change the country of your residence. It requires a valid mailing address. When you're done, click Refresh.
  • If you are using the Firestick for the first time in your new country, you will need to perform the entire setup process again, just like the first time you purchased the device.

Change your location on the Fire Stick

You can only change your location on the Fire Stick in the country where the Fire Stick is registered with Amazon. This is mainly useful for getting localized weather information from Alexa.
